Sugar

Untitled-10

Blah..blah..Ages the skin!!  Not on my watch!

We know very well having a sweet tooth can cause us our waistline.  But don’t you know too, that overeating sugar can make our skin dull and wrinkles!!.

When you’ve sugar in your bloodstream attaches to proteins to form harmful new molecules call advanced glycation end products (or, AGEs for short).  The more sugar you eat, the more AGEs you develop.  And AGEs damage adjacent protein in a domino-like collagen and elastin.  The most vulnerable to keep skin firm and elastin.  Once collagen damaged and elastic become dry and brittle, leading to wrinkles and sagging.

Glycation-Graphic

This is healthy skin and older skin.  Younger skin got collagen more like grape.  Older skin got collagen more like raisins!!skin-aging-visual-representation-changes-over-lifetime-collagen-elastin-form-structure-dermis-making-tight-34993417

From  “the truth about looking young” national geographic BBC 2015 by Dr Rozina Ali

People with diabetes often show early signs of skin aging.

The good news is it’s never too late to turn back the clock.  We can rebuild collagen like changing our diets, use skin care with retinoids, always wear SPF and get facial regularly.

Cheers 😉

Fight free radicals

What are Free Radicals?

Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd (unpaired) number of electrons and can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules.

Once formed these highly reactive radicals can start a chain reaction like dominoes.

What causes?

As we are aging and environmental factors such as pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke and herbicides can also spawn free radicals.

Normally, our body can handle free radicals, but if antioxidants are unavailable, or if the free-radical production becomes excessive, damage can occur

The effects.

Our skin will age faster with wrinkles to cause us to have different diseases!!!!.

We need foods rich with antioxidants for prevention such as liver, egg yolk, milk, butter, spinach, carrots, squash, broccoli, yams, tomato, cantaloupe, peaches and grains.

And always wear sun protection.

Rosacea

Rosacea (rose-Ay-sha) is a common skin disease.  It often begins with just blushing or flushing easily than other people and can last for several hours.

The redness usually starts at T-zone (forehead, nose to the cheek area and down to chin area).  Sometimes will be ears, chest or back area.

Women most likely to notice and get diagnosed quicker than men.  There are 4 subtypes:

  1.  Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea; redness, flushing, visible blood vessels.
  2. Papulopustular Rosacea; redness, swelling, and acne-like breakouts ( but they are not ).
  3. Phymatous Rosacea; skin thickens and has a bumpy texture.
  4. Ocular Rosacea; eyes red and irritates, eyelids can be swollen, and a person may have what looks like a stye (a red, painful lump near the edge of the eyelid that may look like a boil or pimple ).

Rosacea may not go away on its own and dermatologist can diagnose the disease.  For a skincare therapist has been taught to recognized the symptoms and watch for sign of getting any worsen.

At Beautiful Glow Sugaring, we’ve facial treatments design specific for this conditions.  We’ve clients whom already got some treatments with their dermatologists ( or if they need, we can give some recommendation to a few dermatologists).

Our goals are not to flare-ups the redness and helping our clients with home cares and more informations maybe what foods to avoid.

Skin care is very important to keep Rosacea under the control, otherwise  some ingredients in skincare can make Rosacea worse.

Thank you and Cheers 🙂

What is Sodium Hyaluronate?

What is Sodium Hyaluronate?

SodiumHyaluronate

Sodium Hyaluronate is a glycosaminoglycan, a type of molecule naturally occuring in the body.  It is most commonly found in joints, connective tissue and skin.

Although Sodium Hyaluronate is abundant in the dermis of young skin, levels start to decline as we age!!!.

Very Smart Molecule

Sodium Hyaluronate has the ability to adjust its moisture absorption based on the relative humidity in the air.

ADVANTAGE

UNLIKE Hyaluronic acid, which must be injected into the skin ( larger molecules).  Sodium Hyaluronate can be topical cosmetics (small molecules
